Survivors of Slavery: Exhibition at the MShed
Over the weekend we were very excited to have had our Survivors of Slavery Exhibition shown at the MShed. The exhibition was photographs taken by survivors of trafficking and modern day slavery from our project in August. The women are from Albania, Nigeria, Romania, Eritrea and America and are all living in Bristol. We chose specifically to show the voices of survivors in the MShed as it is building that overlooks the docks where slave trade used to take place. As many people know, Bristol is a city that has been built on slavery. What less people realise that since slavery was officially abolished (in 1833) it is still very much prevalent in the UK.
We wanted to show the exhibition this week because it is just after Anti-Slavery Day (18th October) It is so important to remember that slavery is still very much a problem and survivors need to be heard.
